  • Moving day....almost

Okay, this is really it...last night in Boston.  The truck is getting loaded at 9AM....we'll head down to jersey to spend tomorrow night...then over to philly by 9AM on saturday.

The next time I blog, I'll be doing it from Philly.....

See you all in a few days!!!!

  • SNOW PATROL...........

They were SOOOOOOOOOOO amazing.  They sounded better live because the sounds don't sound as restrained as they do on their albums (i don't know if that made sense).  It was probably THE best concert I've ever been to.....it helped that I knew EVERY single song from both their albums. hahahaha.  I LOVE SNOW PATROL.  (However, i did not like sitting in front of young teenagers...that was REALLY annoying...they were there with their moms...and they just talked the entire time.  And the moms kept telling them how tired they were going to be at school the next day....So, why did you let them attend the concert?!)

I really like how they build their songs musically....it's not just verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus...they layer each verse and chorus with sound....it's a crescendo all the way til the end.  And singing wise, they sound just like the do on the albums.

Plus, they're a really laid back band...they picked someone from the audience to sing one of their songs with them (one of them normally has a female vocal part, but i guess she doesn't tour with them...so they pick a girl at every concert to sing the female vocal).  And the girl they picked today just happened to have a fantastic voice, so she did a REALLY great job...she even went as far as singing the harmony part.

But yea, this was a great way to end my time here in beantown.  Sorry, no cameras allowed, so I don't have pics...and I have an old school phone, so i don't have a camera on my phone either!!!

oh yeah, and the openning band was Ok-go....who i also like...and of course they sang their treadmill song and the crowd went wild.

  • Day of Coordinator.......

So I received an offer for really discounted rates for a Day of Coordinator. A DOC is basically someone who sticks around for the entire day and makes sure everything goes smoothly and takes care of receiving vendors and paying/tipping them at the end of the day, so you can just relax and enjoy your day without having to worry about logistics.

For the longest time, I thought a DOC was a wedding planner....and in a way, if you want them to be, they can assist in planning the wedding. But since I am a control freak, I pretty much have the wedding planned out (even if some of it is only planned in my head)! But I wouldn't mind having someone around the day of to make sure that everything is set up right, to help cue us in...and to man the guestbook. I guess, I could have friends do it....but, I'd rather have my friends be guests, instead of working at my wedding!!! Plus, with my wedding being a morning wedding, I don't really have time to make sure everything is done right...(I barely have time to get my hair and makeup done!!!).

Hmmmmmm.....I haven't gotten rates yet, but she said if I promise to refer her (on the long island forums), she'd work within my budget. It's hard to say what they'll say after they hear our budget...HAHAHAHA!

  • Bye bye Beantown...

Wow, I can't believe it's my last week in Boston.  i've been here FOUR years...it went by sooo fast.  I was supposed to have started packing this weekend, but i didn't...haha i hate packing.  Somehow over the past 4 years, I've accumulated an astonishing amount of stuff.  Thank goodness for movers.....and jobs that will cover the moving fee. hahahaha.

I was really touched by the way my friends have said good bye.  I hadn't exactly made an effort to be social or make friends up here because I knew i was leaving after school.  And I had friends come out last night for one last dinner with me, right after flying the red eye from cali, and relying on tracking devices to find the restaurant (thanks mc_fairy!!!!  yay for GPS!).  I don't think it's hit me yet that I may not see some of these people for a loooong time...or even, ever!!!

I never hung out with anyone from work...but at my last day, some of the girls who worked my shift with me bought me a cake.  But in true Children's style, my last day (double shift) was INCREDIBLY busy....i didn't get to eat lunch because there were soooo many IV's to make.  So in between my two shifts, i ate part of my lunch really quickly and put the rest back in the fridge to eat at the end of the day.   After my double shift, I went to microwave my leftover lunch....and someone had eaten the steak tips out of my lunch box, leaving only the rice.  It was SOOOOOOO typical (this happens a lot....but never to me).

It's really exciting and kind of scary that i'll be working as a pharmacist now, and not as a tech.  After my last rotation ended, I still feel like I don't know so much.   It's kind of daunting to think that I'll have to review all these orders and catch all the errors before the meds go up on the floors.  When you're a tech, you know that you have the pharmacist to check your work, so even if you do make a mistake, the pharmacist will (or should!) catch it...there's a little less worrying involved.

    okay....i guess i better start packing....ugh.

But before we leave, we are going to see SNOW PATROL on wednesday...SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!

  • Flower price?

So, I talked to my florist about a price quote for bouquets...and he quoted me $57 per bouquet, whatever flowers I want as long as it's in season.  So no peonies for me...i asked right away hahaha... not in season in the winter...(but he does do all peony bouquets for the girls getting married in the spring)...darn.   hahaha.  But I could get an all orchid bouquet (another favorite flower)...or mix it up with whatever I want...same goes for the girls.  Or maybe amaryllis since it's a winter flower...and those large blooms are gorgeous.  If i do that, I am going to  go with the mucho $$$ flowers hahahaha (which also happen to be my favorites...I have expensive taste in flowers...).  I am not paying $57 for a rose bouquet....I can get 2 dozen roses from the supermarket for $15....plus, I don't really like rose bouquets....I only like them IF the florist happens to get the roses JUST as they bloom.  I don't like them too closed...or too open and wilted.

Is that a good price?  I feel like flower prices are soooo overpriced, especially since I know how much you can get the flowers for.  But I'm starting to realize what the morning of (and even the night before) will be like and I've given into not doing DIY stuff for anything that I can't do way in advance.

  • Dancing, a dangerous sport?

So, yesterday at salsa class, our instructor said something about "superstar" at one point.  And my very good friend and I decided to BOTH go into the superstar pose (a la Molly Shannon) at the SAME time.  However, since we were standing very close to each other, the end result was the our hands BASHED into each others REALLY hard on the way to the superstar pose.  My 3rd and 4th finger bent all the way forward....and i heard some snapping noises.  So, I just thought, i cracked my knuckles in the process...we OWWWW'ed a little bit (while the intructors were cracking up) and then we danced through the pain.

But this morning, when I woke up, I feel pain in my knuckles, the palm of my hand and the back of my hand when i bend those two fingers forward.  And it's really tender if i put pressure on the palm side of the knuckle and further down my palm.  (it's actually hurting right now to type).  I have a bad feeling that I did something to the ligaments in my knuckle since i'm feeling some tenderness in my hand too.

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

Oh a happier note, my fake wedding dress from ebay got mailed to me.  It looks pretty nice for $99...I'm trying to find out how much it's actually worth. hahaha.  I acutally wouldn't mind wearing that as my real dress, except it's probably a little sexier that my mom would like.  It would be a perfect desination wedding dress (if i were having one...i wish).  Too bad that dress is going to be TRASHED...I don't know what's going to happen to it, but Angelica rarely takes pics of girls just standing upright.  She even told me not to bother getting it hemmed, because it won't matter....which makes me think i'll probably be lying down or sitting in most of the shots.

I'm probably going to wear a red dress for my more casual shots just because she loves to play with those vibrant colors in photoshot.  Plus, I look best in red!! ;)

She just started a new blog website which I'm very excited about.  I know that she takes some shots with the manhattan skyline in the background (in the  regular website )....but i think she takes it from the Queens side...with the Pepsi-Cola sign in the foreground.  I totally want that shot.....I wanted a NYC skyline shot but not the same brooklyn bridge one that everyone does.  Plus, I am a voracious pepsi drinker hahahaa....I made them a lot of money!!!

  • Moving...

Everything is booked....the u-haul....and the two moving companies...one to load the truck in Boston and one to unload the truck in Philly.  It is all quite expensive.  But since I am getting reimbursed for it...it is all okay ;)   Otherwise, it would be me, trying to move my sofa down the stairs....trust me, it is not a pretty sigh (I had to help move it up the stairs).  So now, I can sit back and direct....tee hee!

In two weeks, I will be a Philadelphian...

And...just for an infusion of wedding related news.  I changed my engagement/day before shoot to Monday, april 16th since i'd be home that weekend anyway for chrissy's birthday.  I also scheduled both my hair and makeup trials for before the shoot...so I will be all done up.  I really like this makeup artist's work...i hope she does a good job...I'm sick of looking.  She uses all mineral makeup, which i LOVE....

  • Yellow vs. White?...

I kind of find it ironic that after being gung-ho, must-have asian hair and makeup people, I've narrowed my choices to two white people hahahaha.  Well, my top choice asian makeup and hair person isn't available and I've had a hard time finding a good substitute.  The one trial I had with an asian makeup artist, I came out pink in person, and almost grey in photos.  Hmmmm....not the look I was looking for....I wanted neither color.  I just want to look like me! I want neutrals where I'm normally neutral....and pinks where I'm normally pink.

Btw...this is not in reference to what I think about people's choices of makeup color in general...this is just how I prefer my makeup to look.  I want it to look like how I normally apply my makeup...just better.  That being said, I only wear shades of brown on my eyes...and I never wear apparent color on my lips....and I do the flushed cheek look over the contoured cheek look.

Anyhow, both my hair and makeup people have done plenty of asians before, so I won't be their first yellow,  weirdly lidded with stick straight hair girl!!!  I have trials next month (same day as the engagement shoot...tee hee...), so we shall see how they do!!!

    Your Love Life Secrets Are
Looking back on your life, you will have a few true loves.

You're a little scarred from your past relationships, but who isn't?

You expect a lot from your lover - you want the full package. You tend to be very picky.

In fights, you love to debate and defend yourself. You logic prevails - or at least you'd like to think so.

Getting over a break-up doesn't take long. Easy come, easy go.

  • How it all started...........

I was cleaning out some files in my computer....and I stumbled across this picture and it totally make me crack up.

This is how we first met....we were in the same small group...Group 7 ("up yours" HAHAHAHAHA...ok insde joke).  It was just me, yach and the boys (there was one more guy in the group, but he was taking the picture).  I think this may have been at least 8 years ago!!!

First of all, I can't believe what i was wearing...this was when the baggy pants was still in.  So it was my baggy carpenter fatigue-like pants...and my favorite t-shirt at the time!!! MUAHAHAHA.

I totally did NOT like my very good friend at the time....not even as a friend.  I thought he was a jerk....he put salt all over my chair, stole my lunch.....I (with the help of Yach) ended up having this pepper throwing fight at the end of the retreat...which culminated with him pouring water on me.

I barely even talked to him for 2 years afterwards...  But then we started talking....and the rest is history!!!

  • Lights, camera.....

So I scheduled my engagement/"day before" shoot with my photographer (who I'm SOOOOOOO excited about!!!).  It'll be april 19th....since I have a few weeks off before I start work, I thought I might as well get it done then.  I have NO idea where we're actually shooting...she said there was a variety of places around her house, parks, fields, urban areas (AKA astoria...puahaha)...so we'd get to shoot all around.  But I don't actually know what they look like, she said we'd just have to trust her. And we totally do, so we're just going with the flow.

We're going to do 2 looks.  The first will be our dream wedding that we wish we could have done, but we would never ever be allowed to do....a destination wedding, just the two of us...with no guests and wedding planning! Location:  the ghettos of NYC...puahahahaha.  We probably won't get a chance to take too many outside shots in january, so we wanted some wedding-ish shots outside.  Since our wedding is more on the formal side, we wanted something fun and casual.  I'm hoping to win my fake wedding dress on ebay tomorrow...it's not really a fake dress, but i just call it that because it's not my real dress.  It's a low cut, kind of sexy, beachy looking dress.

The second look will be a very casual look...basically what we would wear if we were going out in the spring/summer.  So just a spring dress...with flip flops....exactly what i wear in the summer time.

I'm going for my hair trial right before the shoot, so my hair will be up.  I told the hair person that i wanted to try two looks, even though I know which one i want for the wedding day.   I just wanted the second look for the shoot. hahahaha.  So it'll be one of those curly, messy updo's...

    yay! i can't wait!
