Woah, how did I suddenly become almost 6 months pregnant?!
This pregnancy has been flying by. I seriously thought I was still around 4 months pregnant. I would even tell PB how huge my belly looks at just a few months. Meanwhile, I’m more than halfway there. Uh….mini panic attack! I feel a little guilty because I haven’t really thought about this baby that much at all, other than trying to find a name for her. The name thing isn’t going that well. We thought we had THE name until 2 of our friends popped out babies with the same name (and apparently everyone else in the country since it’s now the 6th most popular girl’s name). As someone who grew up being called by her last name, I really want to try to avoid the super popular names.
We still have to move Tyler into our current office since that will become his room. Everyone says to transition him now before the baby comes so that he doesn’t feel like the baby is kicking him out of his room. But our plan was to move him to a twin mattress on the floor and I don’t feel like he’s ready for that yet. We plan on keeping the baby in our room probably in the pack n play in the beginning, so I feel like we don’t have to do it yet. He won’t understand the whole “this is your new big boy room” trick that people use with older toddlers. Maybe if we buy him a train set and put it in the new room….hahaha.
We have 1 item of girl clothes. I can’t stand all the pink. I think boy clothes are so much cooler. I saw this little girl at work with a black and white houndstooth jumper over black tights. That would totally be something I’d put my girl in. I felt like asking her mom where she got it, but I didn’t want to bother them.
Life with two kids….I can’t even imagine it right now. I’m still trying to figure out the logistics of doing bed and bathtime by myself. My guess is one of the two probably won’t get bathed as often as they should!
The only thing I have prepared are my carriers. hahahaha

I hit 35 weeks today. I’m a bit overwhelmed at all the stuff I still have left to do. As far as names go, my husband looked at me tonight after I told him we still needed to order the crib and said with some panic, “She needs a name first.”
We have three picked out, but are waiting to make a decision until we see her. He then asked how long we’d have post birth before they would ask us for something for the birth certificate.
Nothing like waiting until the last minute.
I’m sure things will all fall into place.
It does fly by when you already have one to keep you busy. And even with 2 girls, they weren’t born in the same “season” so we still have to buy clothes from time to time, and we have the full mattress on top of the boxspring on the floor for M before E was born. She loved it! But of course she was a bit older than Tyler is right now. She sleeps so much better in the mattress than the crib, we should have transitioned her earlier, but this isn’t always the case with every kid. And you know your own kid better than anyone else. I can’t even believe that E is already 10 months! It goes by way too fast. We have a lot of hand-me-downs, so I have to deal with all the pink when I have to, but it is a bit much at times.
i can’t believe you’re 6 months either! that really flew. you still have plenty of time to pick a name though. i think it’ll just come to you one day.
I totally stressed about my son’s name… my husband insisted that we name him “Thor” for the longest time… but then as tubecozy said, it just came to us out of the blue. What name did you have for your baby girl that got snatched up by others? I’m curious now
You still have some time to move T before the baby comes. We are going to put our son on the floor on a full size mattress too. I think it’s better than a toddler bed b/c it’s roomier and closer to the ground.
Good luck! Hope you’re feeling well
Time does fly….What was the name? The lists sorta changes depending on who posts it and what year – Madison or Olivia? I thought it might be Abigail or Ava, but that’s #8 and #5 respectively for 2009 and 2010. Sophia floats around #7 or so.

I was actually surprised to see Abigail ranked so high since only Abby and Carol’s Abigail are the only Abigail’s I’ve ever known.

It was Olivia. We love Sophia too but that was snatched up by a few people we know too. I do like Madison, but I don’t think PB does (it reminds me of Madison Ave and having some of NYC here hahahaha). Keira is another choice that isn’t as popular right now…but PB isn’t sold on that either. Maya was our first choice girl’s name from the first time around (before we knew Tyler was a boy)…but then PB had an annoying encounter with someone with that name, so it ruined that hahaha. There are so many cute names that end in “L”, “La” “lee” or sounds like that which don’t quite flow right with our last name.
I already ran into 3 Abigail’s in Fairfield county…After my name, I prefer something more common. But I agree about it being TOO common. I remember teachers having to differentiate the Jennifer’s and Jessica’s all the time.
