  • Boy & Girl = Rich Man’s Family

I’ve never heard the saying, “A boy and a girl is a rich man’s family” until I started telling people that #2 is a girl.  I took it to mean rich in the sense that he has one of each.  So I googled the origins of the saying (yes, I’m a dork like that) and the saying basically stems from the fact that you have to be rich to have one of each because you have to buy double of everything (clothes, toys etc) since they can’t necessarily share certain things!

But baby girl is very active.  I am a little concerned haha.  My mom told me that my sister and I were such calm kids.  We could just sit in one spot and focus on one activity.  She doesn’t understand the frenzy that is BB.  She doesn’t get why he plays with one toy for one second then throws it aside and turns to something else.  And she doesn’t understand why he has to climb everything in sight and why he won’t just sit in her lap and let her hold him. hahaha.  She said when I was around his age now, she took me on a cross country flight to California.  And I just sat in her lap the entire time…no fussing.  I just laugh at the thought of trying that with BB.  He would be trying to escape to run up and down the aisle and he would press every button in sight.

Anyway…my original point was that I was sort of hoping that I would have a laid back girl….to balance out my crazy BB.  I will be one pooped out mama if my girl were a crazy girl like her brother!

  • that’s interesting to know! (about the saying) I started hearing that all the time too and just assumed the same thing you did. My mom says the exact same thing too! C is such handful and my mom is always saying how we were so much easier to raise.

  • Our Chloe is also a super active baby – I think the term is “spirited” :) She also won’t sit still, doesn’t like to be held, wants to be exploring always. Should have known when my belly would do waves when I was pregnant with her from all her moving around. I would love to have a boy for my 2nd, but also hope that he’s a bit more calmer to balance. I can’t imagine taking care of 2 spirited babies.

Hahaha…my belly was the same way with Tyler. I use “spirited” all the time too!
