Month: March 2008

  • How exactly should I break the news to coworkers?  I'm not particularly close to them since I've been here less than a year.  And I'm still pretty fresh at the pharmacist aspect of the job, so any major distraction can put me behind on orders.  So i can't risk taking time out to answer questions and talking about the pregnancy.  Plus, when I'm entering orders,  I don't have time to even think about being pregnant.  I was contemplating doing it at lunch, but lunch is like private time/nap time for everyone....no one really talks.  Plus, I'm starving by lunch and don't want to stop eating to answer questions hahahaha.

Should I just tell one big mouth and let the news travel?

    I updated the Baby Blog

  • Soooooooooooooo.....

Lennifer is expecting a honeymoon baby!!!! (even though we haven't gone on our honeymoon yet). Don't ask us how it happened....we don't know (I mean, of course we know, but we don't really know).  We are just as surprised as all of you.  Now I believe all those teens who said, "but we only did it once and now i'm pregnant". But after getting over the shock factor, we are really excited now and have even made our first trip to Babies R Us to check out all the goodies.

You can read all about it in my Baby Blog which I started to blog specifically about the baby.  The most recent blogs are on top....so you have to go back to read the first ones.

But it's weird that so many of our decisions in the last year seems to fit this baby happening.  Like we came to Philly...which is the suckiest city, but has the best Children's Hospital in the country/world.  And we rented a 2 BR apt, even though we knew we only needed a 1 BR....but something told us to get the 2 BR.  Lenny's dad just retired this year (free day care).  I used to wonder, why are we here? in Philly? We don't even know anyone.  Oh and we just found out that Lenny does have relatives in the Philly area...his mom's cousins live in one of the burbs (and they're 1st generation American...so they're actually more like us than they are like his mom).  Someone up there had a master plan all laid out for us already.

OH....and the biggest plus in the master plan....having a husband who is a RN at the children's hospital.  PB deals regularly with kids of all ages, including infants.  He already knows how to hold the baby, feed the baby, burp the baby and change diapers and all the other baby chores because he does it all day at work.  He's going to have to teach ME how to do that stuff!  He also knows what brands of stuff is best for the baby based on what he sees at work.  And I, working in the pharmacy, know how to mix formulas (for some reason, the hospital delegates the mixing of special formulas to the pharmacy).  YAY!

Without further ado....say hello to Baby Bear!!!

Oh yeah...I know it's approaching the 3 month mark...but I have NOT forgotten about the thank you cards.  I am still actually waiting for my proofs.  So whenever I get them, the thank you's will go out.

  • Feathers, feathers everywhere....

A few days ago, I noticed that I had down feathers EVERYWHERE in my apt.  We use a mini electric vornado heater (it's like having a fan that blows hot air) in the winters since the apt one takes forever to warm up the room because our the huge windows.  So there are feathers flying everywhere.

I noticed a few here and there the other day and then slowly, it became more and more.  PB and I couldn't figure it out....we beat all our down coats to see if there was a hole somehwere.  I even considered possibly having some sort of wild bird somehow fly in.  We looked all over the apt to see where the feathers could be coming from.

Then i was thinking while looking down about what else I was missing and finally it clicked.  I was looking right my the pair of down booties Yach gave us for Christmas a few years ago.  I wear those things every day in the winter.  I took them off and looked at the soles.  And lo and behold the area around the balls of my feet had worn through on BOTH pair and feathers were totally coming out of them.

So did I throw them out?  No way.  I taped up the holes with duct tape...and back on my feet they went!

  • Squatters...

So I just read that china is rushing to renovate their bathrooms at Olympic Village to include more seated toilets. Did they really put in the squatter toilets to begin with?!!!! Just the thought of squatter toilets from my trip to Taiwan makes me shudder. I could NOT use the squatters....i would always end up peeing either on my pants or my feet. I don't know how people control their pee to go directly down....but my stream would go every which way. Well i guess other people couldn't control it that well either since there was pee everywhere. After a few failed attempts, I only went on seated toilets...which sucked because people only used those for #2...so they stank.

I can only imagine the look on people's faces when they see those for the first time.

  • Tornado?

I think I saw a mini tornado this saturday.  We had one crazy ass storm...and when i looked out the window, I saw everything on the rooftop next door swirl in a vortex shape...like very clearly.  I guess it could have just been the wind pattern, but I got nervous for a second.  But that was one heck of a storm.

I am very excited for Monday night TV...my all time favorite show, Jon and Kate + Eight is on! YAY!!!!  Those kids are hilarious.  PB always jokes around that we should have 10 kids and then they can do a show called Jen and Len + Ten.  yeeeeah...okay.

But life has been pretty mundane. Our pics are almost done, so when we get them, we'll have to order and start working on our thank you notes pretty soon.  eeek.  I'm not sure if we can make that 3 month mark, but we'll certainly try.

I've become a renewed lover of IHOP.  I guess I've been to a few bad ones...but this weekend, we wanted to grab breakfast somewhere.  At first, we were going to go back to Valley Green, but it was cold and miserable out and not worth the treck.  So we went to the local IHOP and it was SOOOOO yummy!!!  Maybe it's their new re-vamped menu, but I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

We also made a quick one day trip back to the city last weekend.  We had to go visit one of PB's relatives in Staten Island who was sick....so we drove into the city for dinner before going home.  We had all these plans of where to go  and where to eat in C-town.  Chinatown has become SOOOO gentrified.  I was like, where did all these white people come from?  We tried to go to Joe's Shanghai...and it was late...like 9 PM...and the line was otu the door and down the block.  And it was in the low 30's that night...it was cold out!  Almost everyone on line was non-asian.  We didn't even bother asking how long the wait was.  We went to another lesser known place, then for dessert, we went to the C-town Ice Cream factory.  Again, the line was out the door...all non-asians.  And they were in there ordering like regular stuff...like vanilla, strawberry.  I guess there must've been something published that exposed that spot.  I was like get the heck out of this store if you want that stuff....go to Hagen Daaz down the street.  And they kept pointing at the asian flavors and asking each other, "what is THAT?  That is WEIRD...that's BIZARRE" (and not in a good way).  I was like get out of my way so I can get my lychee sorbet.  With "Nolita" slowly taking over chinatown, the area become more and more unrecognizable everytime I go back.

Anyway, that's a mini synopsis of my recent life happenings.  Work and eat and watch TV!
