  • So...i just got back from taking the law part of my boards.  I think i failed .  I know people always say that...but i really mean it.  I got in there...and was just like wth.  I completely focused on the wrong things when I was studying.  They asked stuff on subjects that I just quickly skimmed over.  And there was just no way to reason out the answer...especially since 85% of the questions were K questions.  So i sat there...and literally just randomly guessed.  I think i knew 10 questions for sure.  The rest were just random guesses because I just didn't really delve into the areas that they emphasized.  And i studied based on professors' recommendations of what's normally emphasized.... i guess I just happened to not get any of those questions.

I got home and naturally started trying to look up the answers.  So far, all the ones i guessed on, I got wrong.  Plus, there are entire chunks of related questions that I can't even find the answers for.  They must be like one liners in the law that i missed.  But luckily, (I guess) this doesn't impede the process of my becoming a full fledged pharmacist since I can't take the pharmacy based portion until November.  So I can re-take the law again if I need to before Nov.

But, OMG...these computerized exams are SOO annoying.  It totally goes against my testing style.  I'm a scribler.  I love to write on my exams...circle stuff, underline, cross stuff out.  I can't do any of that.  Plus, I can't go back after I've answered a question.  So there's no saving the hard questions for later.

And THEN....since it's a testing center and there are people there taking all sorts of exams, i get seated next to a tapper.  This guy was taking some sort of essay based exam so all I could hear was him pounding away on the keyboard.  Then he would tap the monitor screen with his pen in random beats while he was thinking.   And they had the old CRT monitors, where the front is glass, so it was loud.  So the whole time, it was just "type type type...tap tap tap...type type type....tap tap tap". SOOOO annoying.  I put on the free noise cancelling headphones the center provided, but I could still hear it.

Anyhow....i'll just wait and see.  I'm not expecting any miracles.

  • Mamacita's back....

Look at my profile pic...hahahahahahaha.  I totally forgot I had this shirt.  I found it when I was digging through my "exercise shirt" pile last weekend.  Since I never exercise (until last weekend)...I haven't seen this shirt in quite a while.  This used to be my "going out to the bars" shirt hahahaha.  I tried it on...and it was kind of too small.  I will just assume it shrunk after repeated washings.  Ahem.

Anyhow...I am taking the law portion of the boards on Monday.  I am not prepared.  I procrastinated a little too long.  I tried to reschedule it...but i didn't make the deadline.  Well, technically I did.  They told us up to "two days before".  So yesterday (three days before), I tried to reschedule online.  It didn't work.  Then I look at the fine print (it was actually in a pdf file you had to download and read)...and it's two BUSINESS days before.  Freakin A.  So now i'm cramming/winging it.  I'm about half done.  I hate legal jargon.  It takes me 10 minutes to comprehend each sentence.  Buddhaman...come translate for me please.  Oh.  and it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring.

Oh..and my very good friend showed his mom some of our engagement pics.  She told him that out of all the pics, there was not one good one.  hahahahaha.  We're guessing that since she's used to seeing Asian style glamour shots...and therefore those are considered good.  She must be wondering why our heads are cut off in some of them...or why everything is diagonal (he sent her the fairly traditional ones too!).  She also saw me when I came back after the shoot with my hair down and curly and gasped, "you didn't take pictures with your hair like that did you?"  Indeed, I did!

AND....most excitingly (is that a word?), we have semi-booked the bowling.  We know where we want to do it and we spoke to them about quotes.  But they told us to call back in December with more a definite number of people attending.  We were originally going to do Dave and Busters...but they wouldn't let us rent the lanes without also ordering huge platters of food and drinks for everyone.  We tried explaining that we're coming right after a wedding reception...no one is going to want to eat all that stuff.  But they refused to let us just reserve lanes and then quoted us a ridiculous amount of money per person for the lanes and for food.  So we said screw you, D&B...and contacted your every day bowling alley, who were much more accomodating (and had quadruple the amount of lanes).  It actually worked out better transportation wise because this bowling alley is on the same street as the reception hall, so it's easy to get to...just 2 miles down.

  • Sneak peak....

So I know I haven't divulged many details about my wedding....hahaha only because I haven't really accomplished much in terms of actually doing stuff.  But...finally...after much procrastinating...the beginnings of an invite are in formation.  My ribbon came in the mail today!  YAY! .  Now all I have to do is get the actual invite done hahahaha.

    Exactly FOUR more months!!!

  • In West Philadelphia....

Today, my very good friend and I decided to finally take our bikes out for a test run.  Our weekend have been filled with either work, or rainy weather...and today was the perfect day.  So, we live near a really large park system...and normally, people drive there, park, then ride.    We decided to ride to the park instead.  We'd have to ride on some local streets (which totally freaked me out, since I've never riden amongst cars before)...but it would only be a 15-20 minute ride.  And we rode on the sidewalks the whole way.

So we get to the park...and ride around.  But somewhere along the way, we kind of got lost.  We decided to turn back....but forgot how we got there.  So we just rode towards the nearest public roads.  We reach one...and then, we were like, oh crap.  We realize we had ridden all the way almost to where work is.  And in order to get back, we would have to ride though West Philly.  Like through the streets.  We've driven past quite of number of times before...but in a car...with the windows rolled up.

We had gotten out of the park around 30th street....and the suburbs start around 63rd street....and it is, um, not very safe the ENTIRE 33 blocks there.  OH...and the sun was starting to set.  I guess if  i were a guy, I wouldn't care as much.  But I'm not.  I'm a girl....a very small, asian girl.  So we rode through West Philly....like REALLY fast...and non stop mostly on the sidewalks (which made for almost mountain bike terrain type riding since the sidewalks were totally busted up).  What sucked more was that there was a lot of uphill riding.  So, I set my gears to the lowest level and I'm pedalling like a mad woman...with my thighs burning like crazy.  But i was like MUST...NOT...STOP.

But, finally.....30+ long blocks later, we made it home...safe and sound....in the dark.  Actually, there were a lot of people out, sitting on their stoops and stuff...but it seemed like they could care less that these two asian kids were booking it through their hood on their bikes.  No one bothered us.  WHEW!

Anyhow, my Target bike sucks.  The gears don't shift very smoothly AT ALL.  There's a big clunking noise...then it takes several seconds for the chain to catch the next gear...so for a few seconds, I'm pedalling with a loose chain.  It's less noticeable when I shift with the smaller gears...but when I'm changing with the big gears, I really feel it.  (and when you're riding uphill in West philly as fast as you can and you end up with the loose chain feeling after shifting down...it really brings a moment of panic).    And then sometimes, there's this ticking noise from the gears that don't go away until I shift up and then back down again.  And I switch gears a lot, so there was a lot of clunks.  My very good friend's Diamondback (from sports authority) didn't have any problems.

But I'm glad I splurged and bought a big, squishy comfort set...because at least my behind feels okay after riding for hours on broken up concrete.

Note to self for next time:  bring a map!
