  • Crunch time....

So after months of paperwork, I finally got clearance to take my boards.  I think most people at work are expecting me to take them right away, under the assumption that I have been studying this entire time.  I have not been studying...i have good short term memory and horrible long term memory, especially for things i don't use on a daily basis.  (That is, I'm a good procrastinator/crammer).  I was afraid of studying too soon and then having to re-study it because I forgot it all.  Plus it sucks to have to work a full day, then come home and study.

Anyhow, I have the test schduled for early sept.  So i tried to start studying for real today.  It's hard.  I've forgot how to!  I like to study to classical music...excpet having grown up on classical music, I know most of the songs.  That lead me to start humming/singing along, thereby distracting myself.  Silence doesn't work either...that causes me to daydream.  But I tell you this much...there is nothing more depressing than having to study after dinner while Hell's Kitchen is on...all the while listening to Mozart's Requiem playing from the internet radio station.

But after seeing Yach's hair/makeup trial...I'm pretty convinced that I'm going all up with my hair on the day of.  I LOVE LOVE the curly chignon....especially from the profile shot.  It's so elegant and timeless...you can't go wrong with it.  I really love the more romantic curly half up-do too, but on other people. I know my hair and there is no way that is going to stay looking good for 10 hours.  And I really can not stand to have my hair down the length it is now.  It's in one of those flippy ponytails every single day.  I can't remember the last time I've worn my hair down.  Maybe with the updo, my hair person will tell me I can cut it!!!  I would be SOOO happy!

Plus, there are tons of cool things you can stick in your hair with the low chignon.  I'm still debating on the front part though....

    The messy poof:

Btw, how fanfreakingtastic is that feather comb.  It is SO fantastic.  I want either that or a vintage comb...but the feathers are so much cheaper...and so much more fun.

The other front option.....the 40's flip:

Ok fine...i'm an Eva-lover.  But I have a big forehead...the bangs may cover some of that up...except I don't have bangs...but I am willing to cut!

  • Cake topper....check!

I was kind of iffy about doing a cake topper.  I didn't like the bride and groom ones because of several reasons.  First, they are all of white people.  Second, I didn't want to spend money on something I would never really use/display afterwards.  I considered the flower route...and as beautiful as it looks, I just didn't like the idea of those stems touching my cake (sorry....two germaphobes here)!

I wanted something that was more symbolic...so I thought and thought about it (this is what I do at work...I think about my wedding hahahaha).  And then it hit me....the LOVE statue!  The original Love statue is in Philly and since then, it's been put up in different cities...including NY.  So it kind of ties our past and our future together....

So I went on a search for mini-replicas of the statue.  I knew they must make them.  But the only ones I could find were at museum shops...and they were at quite the hefty price for a 3 inch replica ($75!!!!!).  I tried ebay-ing it...but the cheapest I could find was $50.  I wasn't willing to dish out that much for a little thing.

THEN...one day on my way home, I stopped by the magazine/bookstore at my train station since I time to waste before my train arrived.  I realized there was a small souvenier section...and I looked around and found this:

It's actually a pencil sharpener..HAHAHAHA.   The black "Philadelphia" part houses the sharpening mechanism...yeah..that's going to be covered with a ribbon or something.  It's about a 1/2 inch smaller than the museum replica...but it was only $5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I snatched one up with a quickness...but only after opening EVERY single box they had and choosing the best one.
