  • We had to flake out on our florist today...all thanks to NYC traffic.  The florist had some leftover stems of our flower from a wedding she had to do this morning...so she was going to do a mock centerpiece for us.  We left jersey at 2:00 today...we were supposed to be at the florists by 3:30.  By 4:00, we were still on the LIE, around Shea Stadium.  Yep.  We estimated that we wouldn't have gotten there until 5:00 ... so we had to call and cancel our appt (she had a 4:30 appt).

We started getting a little bit of traffic Staten Island...but it wasn't too bad.  As soon as we crossed the verezano, we were crawling along at top speeds of 5 miles/hour (not exaggerating).  Finally, after an hour in brooklyn, we see that a tractor trailor had broken down in the MIDDLE of two lanes...leaving only 1 lane open for traffic.  Fine...we start moving...and as we hit the LIE, again...we were goin 5 miles an hour.  The highway was packed....we never got to see the reason why.  By 4:00 when we called the florist, we were still going at 5 mph.  UGH...we were pissed...we came in just to see our centerpieces.

She was nice though...she offered to take pics of it for us and email it to me.  So at least we'll get an idea of what it'll look like.  She must have some super connections though because I don't know how she can offer us that centerpiece at the price she quoted us.  Or maybe it's the winter wedding thing....they'll take any business they can get (one of the BIG perks of a winter wedding....you can get crazy deals)!

I can't believe the wedding is coming up so soon....just about 5 more months!!!  But now, we scrambling to get the invitations together...that's our next big thing.  Many thanks to Ms. Applekoo....who puts up with my pickiness (no telling, april!).  SORRY!!! But I got another crazy deal on the printing of the invites too....i can't WAIT to see them.

I might have to do some of the printing at home though....can i print on 80 lb cover stock paper?!  some people say yes, and others say no....

  • Flower Power...

There are two flower stands at 30th street station (where I take the train)...and I walk by them every day, reminding myself to bring cash the next day so I can buy some cut flowers.   Finally, after three months of walking by, I realized that they take credit/debit card.  So I bought some flowers!  I ended up choosing a bunch of hydrangea for their colors.  And I guess the flowerstand lady had a bucketful of fully bloomed roses that she planned on throwing out, so she gave me 5 stems for free.  This is what I did with them!  (sorry about the fuzziness in some of the pics...I took some of them when it was dark out)

You can make your own baby here!!!   The program names the baby for you...which is funny because I've alwasy wanted to name my daughter Siobhan (pronounced Chivan)...but everyone thought that was weird.

  • My E-pics are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!  Okay...most of the pics are HILARIOUS (and beautiful, of course).  I guess AG realized that we weren't a serious couple, so I guess she started taking candid shots.  We had a hard time doing the straight faced, no smile poses (especially when we were looking at each other)...so we were cracking up and making fun of each other in between.  (BTW, this is why we never fight.  We laugh too much to fight  ) Those in between pics are GREAT.  If you know us, you can see how she totally captured how we are around each other and in general.  The serious, posed once are pretty too...but, the candids totally had us laughing when we looked through them.

Okay....technically, I'm not supposed to post any of these....but I'll post SOME of them....just MY personal favorites.  I didn't post some of the funnier ones because those are his favorite.  But if he asks me to take them down, I will....so get a good look now!  (these are lower res pics...)

All pictures taken by Angelica Glass.

And this one is my absolute favorite in terms of humor factor.  Look at our expressions...then look at the expression on the Indian kid standing directly behind us!  It's a freakin RIOT!  (oh man...you can't really see the indian kid that well with the pics in this resolution.  You can see it in the high res pics)

  • The Bowling Bride.....

So I randomly found this photo online....

    69-4572_25_03_1

Someone else thought of going bowling in their wedding attire too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She must be a very smart girl....puahahaha.  I LOVE THAT.  I am SOOOO doing it.  For all the girls who are coming (AHEM, Applekoo), remember to bring socks!

What's a good prize to give away to the top scorer?  It needs to be unisex....and universal...I don't know where in the country the best bowler is from!!!

BTW, I've just added (and deleted) more songs to my playlist.  I want to see more playlists!!!!  It's interesting to see what kind of music people love.  Like I never imagined Jeyi as a french music kind of girl.  SHARE!!!

  • At work today, one of the girls who calls me Vivi, came over and said hi Vivian to me.  And another co-worker who's never heard the weekend asked her, "why do you call her that.  That's not her name".  So the first girl explains to her how I look like a Vivian.  Then the second girl looks at me...then goes, "OHHHHH....yeah, she does look like a Vivian...because she is very pleasant."    ????????????  Are Vivian's pleasant?!

Anyway, i think the rest of our epics are coming any day now.  They are in the mail.  How I love the mail system...and my mailman.  I get someone else's mail EVERY day...which makes me nervous because my precious disk can be sitting in someone else's mailbox/apartment/GARBAGE CAN!

Plus, we soon realized that her files are put on a DVD.  We have old ass computers.....we only have CD-RW drives.  I can't read a DVD on a CD drive right?   We HAD a DVD on our I-Book...BUT, the harddrive died two weeks ago.  AAAAAAAAAAARGH.

  • Plain black bubble tea....latte, please...

So, there's this bubble tea house near work...I've always passed by it, but never went in.  Yesterday, I decided to go in and check it out.  I walk in and it's pretty much set up like a bar/lounge...and the "bartenders" are all white.  There's no asian print anywhere.  I didn't even know how to order bubble tea in English.  So I go up and ask for plain black bubble tea.

Then the white "bartender" asks me if I want it "latte".  I was confused....I was like latte?!  wth is latte (I don't drink coffee, so I never order latte anything).  She tells me that is means whether or not I want milk in it.  I automatically assumed there was milk in it so it just confused me more.  Finally, I order it "latte".  Then she asks if I want it sweetened.  ????????????  Who drinks unsweetened bubble tea?!  I've never heard of that.  I told her to sweeten it.

Then I get my big jumbo cup of plain black bubble tea, sweetened and with latte.  And I take a big gulp.  And it FREAKING SUCKED.  It didn't even taste like tea!  It tasted like sugar water with milk added to it.  And the bubbles felt like they were 2 days old...totally hard.  I was pissed.  But my very good friend and I drank it all....because we paid for it.    Note to self: never buy bubble tea from non-asians.

Oh yeah, totally unrelated, my very good friend got a job at CHOP a few weeks ago working with GI and abnormal metabolism kids.  So now we work at the same place! hahaha yay!  Our schedules won't always be the same, but this week it was, so we went to work together in the morning, ate a quick breakfast and then went home together.  hahaha.  it's nice!
