  • We did not intentionally meet up with Mogan....but while visiting my relatives in TaiZong, they took us to ....uh....some city starting with an "L"...and we were just walking around and i see this guy.  And i'm like, wow, that kid looks like Mogan.  And then I look again, and IT'S MOGAN!  How WEIRD is that?! (ok, i think i hit some weird function button on the keyboard by accident。。。so now the font is weird)。

But i、m starting to get sick of Taiwan。。。hahaha。 I、ve eaten no red meat since I、ve gotten here。。。or chicken or pork for that matter。 Just fish, shrimp, squid and a variety of bivalves。 The first thing i、m going to have when i get home is one big juicy steak。 I miss the US。 I am not cut out to stay here for too long。 I miss regular toilets。。。and I miss speaking intelligibly。。。and i miss my red meat。

  • After 9 days in Taiwan.............

1 mini bout of diarrhea :(   But i don't think from food poisoning....i think i had too much boba tea too fast (darn my lactose intolerence).

1 shilin night market excursion with my cousin and Pastpete (incriminating photos to follow upon my return...muahahahha).

3 days in taipei.....all rainy...didn't get to do everything :(   Must go back for the full experience!

1 cute ass chihuahua at my aunt and uncle's in taizong...currently sitting on my lap...he loves to sit on people's laps.  he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!

  • After 6 days in Taiwan....many plates of street food eaten....one 50 cent huge ass cup of bubble tea drunken...300 pictures taken...2 days worth of taiwanese karaoke with old taiwanese ladies on an old taiwanese ladies' karaoke tour bus of Kenting....1 mosquito bite...several ant bites...2 hot spring afternoons...still 0 on the diarrhea...and...........

1 job offer from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia!!!!!!!!!!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

  • Day 2 in taiwan....177 pictures taken....0 bouts of diarrhea.  Life is good!

  • Great...the weather sucks....i went out to buy dramamine...just in case...i'm not good with motion sickness.

  • I'm off to the motherland tomorrow!  I am packing a LOT of stuff.  I know we can wash clothes there...but apparently people dry clothes by hanging it up....i hate drying my clothes like that...then it feels like i'm wearing cardboard.  So i'm just bringing a lot of clothes.  Plus i'm going from 70-80 degree weather straight to a week of 50 degree weather...so i have to bring like TWO sets of clothes.

But, on a brighter note.  I got an eye exam today cuz i ran out of contacts and i can't get them online anymore without a legit RX.  So, turns out my vision got BETTER...if that's possible.  he said it improved by 25 degrees, but my astigmatism got worse.  That's because i refuse to wear toric contact lenses because they cost an arm and a leg.

So then i asked him to recommend contacts because my eyes get really dry.  So he recommended a two week one and a daily one.  And he said he would give me a week's worth to try out.  So i was like hmmmm.....i wear my two week ones for like two months.  So i told him i would try the daily's.  I then told him i would be traveling out of the country for a couple of weeks and won't be able to come back for the 1 week followup.  He then went to the back and got me approximately 12 days worth of dailys...5 boxes of 5.  So....that means i basically have like 1/2 a year's worth because i save them! YAY! I felt a little like a scam artist...but i honestly didn't think he was going to give me that many.

  • My special project for this rotation is to go through all the medications used in the ENTIRE hospital....and find any that contain alcohol.  I am up to "t".   I feel quite accomplished.....and cross eyed.

    *EDIT*   I FINISHED!!!!

So, I made my very first baklava today.  Actually, it may be my second...i remember making one with my mom when i was in elementary school.  Although i can't really remember if it was actually baklava considering that my mom probably doesn't know what baklava is....unless she just saw the recipes somewhere.  Anyhow, it was VERY labor intensive.  It took me like one hour just to put the layers of philo dough and pistachio nuts down.  But i think it turned out okay!  So now....my very first (or second) baklava:

Please excuse the missing lower left hand piece..........it was in my belly by the time i remembered to take pics
