Today, I handed in my petition for graduation. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO....that felt good! I'm almost done with being a student!!!
Now i'm debating whether or not to pursue a residency. It's not mandatory at this time to have completed a residency when applying for clinical pharmacist positions.......so i do have the option of just applying to hospitals to see what happens. But the residency gives you the equivalent of 3 years experience...it's basically like another year of rotations.....so you learn a lot. But it pays when medical residency pays....which is NADA. I know if i were younger, i would without a question do a residency. It's just that i'm so old now.....i just want to be an adult....have money....pay off my loans...buy a house...have a family, etc. And even though the residency is just 1 year, it's a big salary difference...it's like a $50-60K difference in salary.
I've tried talking to pharmacists....but the responses are divded. Those who did residencies say to do it.....those who didn't say it's not worth it.
So i actually have to decide pretty soon...becuase applications are due in december and january.
AAAAARGH....so much stress..
Why can't i just win the lottery?!!!
