  • *EDIT*  I just practiced for about 30 mintues and my wrists are killing me.

So I’m at home in Queens now….so i can practice piano for service on Sunday hahahahaha.  I have to re-oil my joints!

But I love being in my house because i LOVE my house.  It was custom built in the 1920′s and a lot of the fixtures and moldings are what came with the house, so it adds so much character.  Our windows still open with those cranks…although we lost some of the cranks, so we can’t open all of them. hahahaha.  The faucet in our bathrooms are so old that the parts no longer exist….so, once they break, we just don’t use those sinks!  We still have one of those retro looking stoves from the 40′s-50′s…except it’s for real from the 40′s-50′s.  We had a matching fridge until a few years ago, when it broke.  Now we have a normal modern fridge (when the fridge guys came to switch the fridge, they were like WOAH….who still has one of these!!!).

I’m trying to convice my parents to sell me the house when they retire.  My mom said okay as long as I build a one bedroom addition for them to live in.  hahaha yeah okay.  They would save a lot of money by selling to me because i don’t care if these little things here and there don’t work.  Plus, every single pet that has died while living in this house is buried in our backyard….and I know exactly where they are. And if you knew my family, you would know that we have had quite a lot of pets.  I don’t think new owners would appreciate the pet cemetary we have amassed back there.

Wouldn’t it be cool if I raised my family here…and by then Je-ying would have made her way out of teaching in the hood…and she’d be in SD #26…and she could be my kids’ teacher!!!! hahahaha!

  • okay i’m in the library now…and the girl next to me reeks of coconut oil. I understand that certain people need oils to tame their hair, but sometimes too much is too much.

And there is this other guy on the other side of me who is just BANGING away at his keyboard. I mean like REALLY loudly. It’s whenever he uses his space bar…he just slams the weight of his entire hand down onto it.

    SO ANNOYING.

  • YAY…..the asian team won again in Survivor…well, we tied for 1st, but whatever, same difference.  And the losing team sent off the strongest Asian dude to exile island (the ripped, Yale PhD guy).  And on exile island, you get a clue as to where the immunity idol is…and you can keep that idol for yourself til pretty far into the game.  Hmmm….guess what….asian dude figured it out…and got the immunity idol.  WE ROCK.

On the other hand, i didn’t really like last night’s episode of Grey’s….i hated all that flashback crap…just more forward…that’s why we tuned in…to see what would happen.

OH…and i went and bought a Bare Essentials kit….that mineral make up stuff.  It is SOOOOOOOOOOO great.  I will never use anything else.  When they say it feels like you’re not wearing makeup, they mean it.  It felt like NOTHING.  ANd it’s so easy to use.  i got the “light” kit…which acutally has quite a strong yellow undertone, so it matched PERFECTLY.  I totally recommend it.  i LOOOOOOOOOVE LOOOOOOOOVE it.  But if you do get it, get the kit…don’t buy each component individually…you’ll save so much more money.

  • You know what i can’t stand….when you’re walking out a door…and you try to be nice and you pass the open door onto the person next to you….but instead of taking the door from you, they just walk through the open door.  There’s a definite difference in body position between holding the door for someone and just passing it over.

Earlier this week, on one of those rainy days, I was walking out of the drugstore and i knew there was someone directly behind me.  So i stepped outside into the rain (i hadn’t openned my umbrella yet)….and the guy behind me stands right in the doorway….trying to open his umbrella…without even taking the door from me.  So i’m standing outside IN THE RAIN….while this dude is letting me hold the door open for him while he’s inside trying to get his umbrella open.  SO FREAKIN ANNOYING.  And he was struggling with the umbrella for some reason, so i was holding the door for a while.  Finally, I got pissed, and i just let the door go…and i heard the door slam into him with a thud…and he kind of went, “ooph”.  MUAHAHAHAHA.

  • I’m back in Boston for the weekend.  I decided to take half my stuff up now….so that i wouldn’t have to deal with the issues of the super super super heavy suitcase later on (i could barely lift it off the ground using ALL my strength…)  I noticed on the ride back that the leaves are turning color.  YAYYYYYYYYYY!!! i LOVE autumn…it’s my favorite season….nice cool weather…you still have the late blooming flowers left over from the summer and i LOVE when the trees are a million different colors.

Anyhow, after having spent 3 weeks living in manhattan, i’ve decided that i am too old for city living…..I need to retire to suburbia.  I can barely sleep at night because there are bar hoppers yelling and screaming on the streets (I sleep somewhat early because i get up at 5 AM).  Then in the middle of the night, the garbage trucks come around.  And in the morning, all i hear is honking.

I could live in one of the other 4 suburbs, but i want a BIG backyard (for my garden and pool….and for my very good friend’s…..basketball court *rolls eyes*)….and i can’t get that even in Queens….unless i somehow become super rich and can buy the plot next door to my house.

Oh…speaking of asians, i watched the first episode of Survivor yesterday…and can i just say that the asian team kicked arse!!!  ohhhhhh yeah.  I like waht that one dude said when he  was like “oh, we have an advantage because we fly under the radar.  People probably don’t even think we speak English.”!!!

  • NEVER FORGET.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JE-YI…NG!!! When i read jeying’s blog i was like huh? why is je-ying blogging about herself…and it’s not even her birthday. HAHAHAHA!!!

  • There’s a new fellow on the ICU team…..he is the real life version of House….except he is rarely correct. He only has the annoyingly obnoxious traits. Oh….and he looks like Spock. I dislike him immensely. He ruins rounds for me because everytime he says something, I think of ways to hurt him. Oh….and he has extremely greasy hair…it is so gross.

Luckily, there’s another guy who is just like Zach Braff’s character on Scrubs…..he helps make rounds more tolerable.

  • Ahhhhh…..back in NYC. I’ve been back for about a week now, and although it has rained pretty much every single day, i still LOVE it. The rain here is nothing like the rain up in Boston….although i might be biased since i hate everything boston. The rain in boston just seems colder….harder….and more horizontal (y’know…the kind of rain where it doesn’t matter if you have an umbrella or not).

Anyhow, my rotation is going pretty well…I’m in the ICU at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt near Columbus Circle. It’s quite intense actually….and i’m considered to be part of the “ICU team”….which is kind of cool and scary at the same time. So I go on rounds with the rest of the “ICU team” (which consists of all the MD’s and MD’s to be) for like 4 hours every morning. So all the interns and residents present their patients to the attending…and i just stand there and listen….and from time to time they’ll have questions about dosing, or drug choice or adverse reactions….which they would address to me (and the other pharmacy student). And we’d help them out as much as we can. We are supposed to be rounding with a clinical pharmacist, but she’s really busy, so we go ourselves…..and it’s scary because we don’t have anyone there more knowledeable around to confirm our answers. And if there are questions about a patient’s drug regimen…like dosing or appropriate choices, we’ll just raise our concerns and they either address it, or justify their decision.

But i’ve noticed that the MD’s in NY are much more welcome and receptive of our advice than the MD’s in Boston. Boston is VERY conservative and traditional when it comes to health care…so a lot of the MD’s are really prideful and they think pharmacists are just pill-counting idiots. I’ve gone on rounds where i work just to see what they’re like….and the pharmacists do go on rounds, but they just sit there and are not included in the treatment discussions. i really like it here because the attendings treat us just like we’re one of the med students/residents…..and always tells us just to jump in and say whatever.

And just to clarify, pharmacists DO NOT COUNT PILLS. That’s what the technicians are for….we just verify and check the technician’s work….and go on rounds.

but it’s really great to be back in NY….within 1 day i think I’ve turned back into a rude new yorker. I walk superfast….i weave in and out of tourist traffic, while shouting, “EXCUSE ME”…and shooting them dirty looks. i HATE when they just stand in large groups in the middle of the sidewalk….MOVE TO THE SIDE.

But it is SOOOOOOO hard not to shop in NY. i was sooo good in BOston because the mall was a 25 minute walk…and the stores sucked. Just walking around in NY, you see stuff you want to buy. I’ve already caved and bought a raincoat….like a dressy one….sort of like a short trench coat. SOOOOOOOOOOO cute.

    I LOVE NEW YORK………………..
