  •     what do i pack for a 6 week stay back home?  What is the weather like in september? i don't remember...like 60's - 70's?  Do i need ot bring closed toe shoes?

EDIT******* I am almost done packing.  I have one of those BIG rolling suitcases...the ones that you can't carry on.....and it is COMPLETELY full.  And it is REALLY REALLY REALLY heavy.  I hate packing for september because the weather is so fickle....i remember  two septembers ago, it was REALLY hot...like 80's and 90's...but last sept was REALLY cold...like 60's.  So i have to pack for ALL seasons.  And i've decided not to pack ANY shoes at all other than comfort shoes.  hahahaha.  All i brought is a pair of ballet flats....and i have to bring my two pairs of ugly clogs which, as you may imagine, are quite bulky and heavy.  And the only other closed toe shoes I have are boots which, at this point, I can not fit.  So, if i show up at church with clogs....don't laugh!!!!   Or I may have to borrow chrissy's shoes even though her feet are bigger than mine...i'll just stuff the front with cotton balls or something.

  •    So, there is this bird feeder lady who scatters food behind my apt day after day....thereby attracting huge hordes of birds, small and large.  And as a result there is a large number of birds that like to perch on my rooftops....even on my fire escapes, a mere 2 feet away from my face.  And to illustrate my point:

    Today's visitor:

Snack time for small birds and pigeons:

    Snack time for sea gulls:

    Rest time for the seagulls:

These birds were actually quite far away (excpet for the one right on my fire escape)....i had to use my 12X zoom....i LOVE the 12X zoom.

  •    So i bought these two bamboo plants from the supermarket about 2 months ago.
When i got them, they were just these two stick....i LOVE growing bamboo,
because they're so hard to kill.  As long as they have water, they'll grow.  I
have a couple of bamboo plants at home in New York, and every time i go home,
i'll change the water, and that's all the care they'll get....and they still
    thrive.

So here are some pics of my plant.....i haven't named it....i'm open to
    suggestions...

  • I am currently in my Yankees jersey.....and i'm running over to my computer every time i hear the roar from the crowd (yes, unfortunately, i'm THAT close to fenway park). Tonight will probably be all sirens and helicopters...AGAIN.....red sox fans were at the local bars at like 10 in the MORNING.

    LET'S GO YANKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!

EDIT************* My new next door neighbor is a Yankees fan!!!! I can hear him cheering when I'm cheering!

EDIT************ The streets were SILENT last night. BOOYAH....suckas.

  •   Say hello to my new futon/couch.  I call it a futon...the store owner insisted that it was a couch...but whatever.  It's not the best color...or that good looking (reminds me of a removable row of seats from a minivan)...but it's suede-y soft....and against a robin blue or a light green wall, it could work!  I actually wanted a futon...but i hate those wood/metal ones....and buying a for real couch is out of the question.  I am not hauling that thing up all those flights of stairs.  So i guess this is okay for now....til i start making the $$$$$!!! I got the futon/couch 40% off because the zipper in the back is damaged...but you can't tell by looking at it from the front...and the back is just going to face a wall.

So the back "clicks" into several positions...including all the way down, so it can become a bed (hence my classification as a futon).

    As a sofa...

    As a bed...

I really liked their Aruba sofa...but that was not damaged...and was pretty expensive :( So now i can have my guests sleep on something other than an old sleeping bag on the floor.

  • So, i'm staying home from work today....i woke up with my left eye
really itchy and really really red.  I tried visine....did
nothing.  I always feel bad calling in sick iwth something like an
eye infection/allergy (not sure which one it is...since i'm also
sneezing and wheezing).  The ailment itself isn't so bad...like i
can still work 100%.....but it's just that my eye is like bright
red.  And i don't know if i would want to walk into a pharmacy,
and see the pharmacist with an eye infection...because it's not like
you can't see it!  It's like the patient who came in yesterday
with a humongous stye on his eyelid....how can you NOT look at it?!

Is it wrong to call in for an eye infection?!!!!!!!

  • So, the place i'm doing rotations at now offered me a part time job to
work there during the school year...hahaha.  I might just take
them up on it...even though it's retail...and even though it would mean
having to quit Children's.  I feel like i should at least be
competent in all areas of pharmacy just in case I'd ever have to work
retail in the future.   I would hate to be that pharmacist that
doesn't know what she's doing.  I've done all i can do in a
hospital setting to the extent of the responsibilities as an
intern....there are more things i COULD be doing, but it's not
    legal.

Some pluses of the new place:  since it's an independent (family
owned) pharmacy, they are CLOSED thanksgiving and christmas...which
means i wouldn't have to worry about possibly working those holidays
    (i've worked thanksgiving 3 out of the past 3 years....and Christmas 2
out of the past 3 years).  The scheduling is also VERY
flexible....i just tell them about a month in advance when i can work
for the next month.  I will never ever have to scramble around
finding someone to cover my shifts.

This rotation will be over in 1.5 weeks....and in 2.5 weeks i'll be
back home in NY for 6 weeks for my rotation at St. Luke's -
Roosevelt.  I can not WAIT to be back in the city.

  • So, between yesterday and today, i made about 150 of these
suppositories (AKA rectal rockets) by hand.  They let me keep one
to show off my handiwork.... .  It
goes up the wazoo pointy end first...and it stay there....slowly
releasing its goods!  (it's green because i had to make it from
crushed pills....and the pills are green)

I also am the owner of a new pair of kicks...yeah....i love
sneakers.  50% off too.  I love 50% off.  I love the
    retro tennis shoe look.
