  • Rotation #1....OVER.....5 more to go!

It's humid out....and my hand joints and left ankle ache.  Hello osteoarthritis.

  • So this past week I went to another Pharmaceutical company sponsored
dinner (I've been to one a week...it's great).  This time it was
at the Ritz Carlton in Boston.  And let me just say that it was
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good.  I don't usually like the typical American
banquet food....it's always the same.  But this was SOOOOOOOOOOOO
    good.

First there was open bar and hor d'ourves...yummy.  Then a salad
appetizer...and for the entree..........filet mignon AND a HUGE lobster
tail.  They were both cooked JUST right....and were so deliciously
    seasoned.  mmmmmmmm...

THen for dessert, we got a warm chocolate cake...it looked almost like
a ding dong...and when you stuck your fork into it, all this liquid
chocoloate came oozing out.  And of course it was served a la
    mode.  I don't even really like chocolate cake....but  i
actually sighed after i bit  into it.

If i were rich....i'd get married at the Ritz......

  • So i just read   this article
in the NY times about women being flashed/groped on crowded subway
cars...and how it's happened to probably every single female.  SO
TRUE.   It's happened to me PLENTY of times.  Although
of the two times i've been groped only one was at a subway
station....the other time was at the yankees parade.  But i've
been flashed a few times on subway trains as well.

How are you SUPPOSED to react?  With the flashing, you can just
look away...or do the pretend-I'm-sleeping thing.  But the
groping?  I guess the safe thing would just to ignore them and
move on...since you never know if they're carrying a
weapon.   That's always good in theory until it actually
happens to you.  When that happens, you get so infuriated that you
do what comes naturally.........you get them back.

The first time was at a crowded yankees day parade.  A friend and
i were trying to make it through the crowd to find a good spot.  I
kept by eyes down cuz i was wearing a portage and i was afriad of
someone reaching into my bag.  But then i saw a hand approach my
groin area...and i followed the arm up and saw the guy do it.  So
i did what came naturally.  I glared at the guy and then elbowed
him as hard as a could in the chest.  So no one else saw the
grope...but ALL the guys around us saw the elbow.  And they
started shouting, "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh....did you see that girl...she just
    elbowed that guy!!!".

The second time was at the flatbush subway station in brooklyn.  i
was going down the middle of the stairs and this big black guy was
coming up against the wall side of the stairs.  and as we walked
past each other, the same thing happened.   We were the only
two in the stairwell at the time so he didn't even try to hide it.
So i did what all little asian girls should NOT do against a big
black guy.  I swatted his arm away and then shoved him against the
    stairway walls.

Both happened so fast....afterwards, i thought to myself, wow...what if
they had a weapon or if they came after me for hitting them.  Who
in their right mind shoved a big black guy in the middle of flatbush.

Then again, who in their right mind would go around groping girls for fun?

    Guys are sick.

I would have done the knee in the nuts....but that would mean i would have to get close enough to do it.

    Anyone else have stories???????? share!!!!

  • YAY...portugal advanced another round....they are doing REALLY
well.  That means another chance to see my heart

I love the patients at the VAMC (veteran affairs med center)....I am
seriously considering going into geriatric pharmacy....it's an area
where i can really make a difference.  ANd plus, who can resist
    cute, old people.

  • So there's this patient at work who's my absolute FAVORITE.  He's
been at the hospital for many many years (all the patients there are
geriatrics)...and he's pretty sick.  Anyhow, whenever we go on
rounds, when he sees the doctor, he'll grab her hand and kiss the back
of it (like in the old romance movies).  So sometimes after rounds
are over, i'll pop into his room really quick to chat with him for a
few minutes.  So today, after rounds, i popped in to say hi
because he wasn't feeling well the past few days.  And when he saw
me, he grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it.  He is
    SOOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!

But i feel soooo bad for these patients....they seem so lonely...and
all they want is someone to talk to.  Their kids have all grown up
and are busy raising their own families.  Some of them get weekly
visits from their families...but still...an entire week before you have
real social contact.  Whenever i go on rounds, i always wave to
all of them...and i made it a point to learn all their names...and they
get so happy when people wave at them.  :(    I like
geriatrics.......i just may go into that!!!!  It's going to be big
in a few years...i think the first baby boomers turn 65 in just a few
    years.

    *EDIT*

Anyhow, i've become a fan of Portugal's soccer team because of this guy:

Christiano Ronaldo. SOOOOOOOOOO HOT!!!!! And he's good....plays for manchester's united.

  • so in celebration of me entering my late 20's....i bought myself 3
CD's....the Gnarls Barkley CD (which is must say is SO
GOOD)..........the new All American Rejects.....and Pearl Jam greatest
    hits (for $7)!

i am old now.....but i still look young (thank you Asian genes).
    I tell people i'm 22 (I would say 21, but then i get the OHHH you're
legal comments).   They believe me.  I am happy.

But i went running for the first time in YEARS yesterday.....it was
weird, at one point i felt like sprinting.  So in my mind, i'm
used to feeling myself go a certain speed (e.g. like when i was
younger).  But my body wouldn't respond....i felt like i was
running in molasses.  I think that shocked me.  That my mind
wanted me to run fast....but body was like...'no way, honey.'

    I am old now!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So today, i went to the supermarket....and i saw that the flowers were
buy 1 get 1 free....so i bought some and brought them home to do floral
arrangements.  I was like oh, you just stick them in a vase....so
easy.   It was my first time trying it....i kind of just stuck
stuff where i thought it looked good.  But it is MUCH harder than
it looks....i had so much trouble getting the flowers to stay where i
wanted....especially in the beginning.  I think i may have
inadvertently ripped off some petals here and there because i tugged on
    them too hard.  oops.

But yay....now i have TWO fairly decent sized arrangements.  i don't have vases, so i used a drinking glass and I had to
empty out my Q-tip jar for the other (the q-tips are now mingling
with my cotton balls).  Grand total for
    everything..................................a whopping $6.
    YAY for supermarket flowers!!!!

    arrangement #1

    arrangement #2

close-up....they almost look fake...i had to touch them when i first saw them to make sure!
