  • LEARN taiwanese online! This will be my summer project!  if you click on the third icon from the left...the one of the old man with music notes coming out of his mouth.  That's my favorite section.  tee hee.  especially #6!

So the class did pretty poorly on our last virology exam...it was REALLY hard...it took everyone the full 1.5 hours to complete 40 questions.  AND someone i know had gone to her office and overheard her speaking to one of the other professors who taught that class about how parts of the exam were really difficult...and even she wasn't sure if she could answer them (the part that another prof wrote).

okay....is there something wrong here? the professor, with her doctorate and YEARS of experience is saying that even she could not answer some of the questions?  I know my school uses this class as a 'fail as many kids as possible' class, but don't make an exam that you as the head professor of the class can't do well on.  Maybe that means you should look over the exam and throw some questions out?!  oh...and this is one of those no-curve classes...so whatever we got is what we're stuck with.  I didn't do devastatingly bad...but it does mean that i will have to pretty much ace the final to get what i want in the class...which is an A of course!

On a good note, i'm managed to squirrel myself 5 solid weeks of full time work training in various areas.  Some of the areas don't even really need formal training, but i insisted that i would feel more comfortable with training even though i sort of know how to do them already.....bought myself some extra days there.  muahahahhaa....the power of being a persistent, yet very annoying little working bee.  EVERY time i went to work, i would FIRST go straight to the manager and be like, So....about the summer....So now, whenever he sees me, he groans.  MUAHAHAHAHAHA.   but whatever...i went from having 0 hours to having 5 full time weeks.

  • Conversation overheard at Barnes and Nobles yesterday at 5PM:

Scene: a group of frat-boy-looking guys (but are actually med school students) sprawled over several table.  They SHOULD be studying, but are instead griping about the nasty Boston weather.  (they are mostly from New York, as i deduced from prior eavesdropping sessions...i was there a long time...i had a big exam today).

Boys (i couldn't tell how many people were actually conversing...i didn't want to listen in AND stare...that's just SO rude! hahahaha.  Just know that these are separate boys talking)  : yo man, it's snowing
-shut up...no it's not.   Oh shoot, it IS!
-man, i f^&%ing hate it here
-730 more days and then we're out of here.  I am NEVER coming back ever again
-I can't wait to go home this weekend
-then one of them turns to the only boston born boy: have you been to new york before?
-boston boy: yeah, i've been there once.  It's pretty much like boston.
-new york boy: okay, don't EVER say that again.  it is NOT the same at all
-boys: continue ranting about how they hate it.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  I am not alone!!!

Looks like i will have to find another job even if i work up on satellite because even that won't get me close to enough hours.  AAARGH.  Retail pharmacy....here I come.  I'm not really a people person though....i identify myself very much with Sandra Oh's character on Grey's Anatomy.  I think i'm a LITTLE more empathetic than that, but other than that...that's pretty much me.  I LOVE her character!!! And George...the awkward dork.

Who's READY to PARTY on saturday?!!!!!!  i must forewarn...i look terrible, so don't be shocked....I am very tired...i will probably want to be in bed by 1AM.

  • it is snowing.  SNOWING.  Two days ago, it was 63 degrees, and today, it's SNOWING, with temp's in the low thirties.  WHAT is going on?  Freak you, Boston....you and your fickle weather...just let the summer come.

  • OMG....i hate freakin living so close to fenway park.

There has been helicopters hovering over my building since 5:30 AM.  SO ANNOYING.  And they just flew a fighter jet overhead....that is SOOOO LOUD....i had to cover my ears.  And i guess everyone took the day off to watch the game because ALL the neighbors are home....screaming and shouting.  Geez, don't you guys have JOBS?!  They are SO pathetic up here.  In their Boston Globe (their version of the times), they featured a series of pics from events around the world from the past week.  They showed maybe 1-2 of the pope.....and 50% (approx 7-8) were of the series from last weekend.  I kid you not....i emphasize WORLD events...and 50% were of the games. And the whole rivalry thing is all very interesting, especially, since now it's actually more like a rivalry.....however, isn't this whole matching up the yankees vs. red sox thing going a little overboard.  TWICE within two week?!  i mean, really...there are other really great teams out there to play...

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So for next fall, i have a slot for an elective, and i want to take a foreign language.  Now, i can take either japanese-of which i have no prior knowledge and i hear can be rather difficult to learn.  Or Spanish-which i took up to AP level 1 in HS, but have not used or taken since (that would be like 8 years).  So i don't really remember anything..i know like basic vocab...but even conjugating in the present tense is difficult now.

I only have one year that i can devote to the language.  So will i learn enough japanese in two semesters for it to be useful?  Or should i refresh my spanish?  I've always wanted to learn japanese, esp watching a lot of japanese movies...hee hee...i like the way it sounds.  But , i also really enjoyed spanish....so it's not really a question of which i like more.  But i don't want to take japanese for one year, if i'm not going to learn enough to converse or make use of it.  And spanish really would come in handy in the future.

    Suggestions?!!!!

  • And so, i am innocently blow drying my hair...and as i begin to work some pomade in, i notice a slight glistening on top of my head.  And i think no big deal because black hair sometimes shines white in the light.  But no matter which way i moved my head, i still see that sparkly on my head.  And i look closer and OMIGOD my FIRST GREY HAIR.  Except it was shiny...so it was like silver...but OH NO and WAAAAAH!  I pulled that sucker out with a quickness.

So i'm studying the skin and soft tissue infections portion of virology & Anti-infectives for my big exam tomorrow.  And since we're going to be CLINICAL pharmacists...our prof decides that as part of the presentation, to show pics of these infections.  And i am not talking about small scrapes...these are nasty nasty skin lesions.  And i thought it was amusing because as soon as the first picture went up (they were in order of increasing grossness), the ENTIRE class screamed EEEEEEEEEEEW and either covered their eyes with their hands or looked away.  hahahahahahaha.  That is why we chose pharmacy and not medicine!  I literally felt sick to my stomach (the class is right after lunch) and could not look at the pics for more than 3 seconds.  I can tell you how to clean and treat it....i just won't do it myself.

I mean, i'm not really THAT wimpy when it comes to disgusting things, i can handle blood and seeing organs and stuff...but i can't handle rot and vomit...my two weaknesses.  Had i gone into medicine, i would've probably needed to carry a bedpan in my pocket!

ugh...i feel nauseus just thinking about it.

  • If you look back on my posts from a few days/weeks back...you will see a one line post that contained my prediction for the NCAA tourney.  I said UNC....AND IT IS UNC!!!!!! WOOHOOOOOO!!!  It's the first time that i picked a winner!

Can the fashion industry PLEASE stop making lacy ruffly things?  i am NOT a lacy ruffly girl.  It's so GIRLY. What happened to that punk, rock and roll phase...i liked that....the only people still making that is urban and delias....which means, i can wear it maybe three times before it falls apart in the wash.  I do like the new bohemian, hippie look though....tee hee...but i can't see that look lasting past the summer.  NO MORE LACE.  NO MORE RUFFLES.

  • WELCOME HOME, TINO!  We've missed you!  With luis sojo and joe girardi as coaches, it's like the whole team's back!

Wells said he wanted to be included in the roll call because in the
previous years, the bleacher creatures still included him even though
he was on other teams.  but he is an "idiot" now.....no roll call
    for him....SUCKA!

AND....it appears as if i have won my ncaa pool against my very good
friend.  Since i had UNC going all the way and he had kentucky,
all i needed was to win saturday's game to win.  They won.  I
    won.  Again...two years straight!

Best line from Sunday night TV: Grey's Anatomy....uttered by one of the
attnedings (the one that's sorta with the blond girl).  "i guess
i'll have to like seattle.  I'm from New York...we're genetically
engineered to hate it everywhere, except for Manhattan".  I just
laughed when i heard that.  But i like that show! i thought it
would be like ER...but it's not so much about the cases..it's more
about the people...and the repertoire is very fast paced...sort of like
the Gilmore Girls.  So if you like ER and the Gilmore girls,
    you'll love Grey's Anatomy.
