Month: January 2005

  • school starts monday.  I am depressed.  This was the shortest
winter break ever...a mere three weeks.  I realized that I should
buy my books before classes start because i hate that first day rush in
the bookstore.  So i go online to see what books i need and
freakin A, they cost a lot.  Two of my classes are continuations
from last semester (they cost almost $200 for each class)....and for
this semester, i have ANOTHER book that will cost me almost $200....and
the rest are normal textbook price.  AAARGH.  And of course,
the classes require the latest edition...and normally, i would just buy
the last edition, but i'm kind of hesitant to do that with books about
drugs...cuz what if they say to recommend Vioxx or something.

The people in the textbook company must be gazillionaires...preying on poor, loan-dependent students.  SHAME ON THEM!

On a totally different topic....i realized that I had already marked my
work weekends in my calendar up to july or something....so i had to
cross that all out...and now my calendar looks messy :(

  • oh...so i saw the video of ashlee simpson performing at the orange bowl
and subsequently getting booed.  I can tell you that the booing
was well warranted.  She sounded horrible.  Her backup
singing was horrible-er.  At least if you know you'll sound bad,
get good back up singers...like britney does...it helps mask your
badness.  But anyway, by the end of the song, she wasn't really
singing anymore...she was sort of screaming/shrieking the lyrics and
her voice kept cracking...and i could not make out a conceivable
melody.  Then the booing began...but the camera cut away from her
just as the booing started.  My question is why would they invite
ashlee simpson to sing at a football game anyway?  Do football
fans listen to ashlee simpson?  I guess they could....but somehow
    i doubt it.

okay, i watched house of flying daggers yesterday.  it wasn't bad!
i liked that the house of flying daggers were mainly WOMEN!
hahahahaha!  But i think takeshi kaneshiro is my new love.
He's half taiwanese...the parents would approve! hahahaha!  I
really like the cinematography in this film....i haven't watched hero
yet...but from the commercials, it looks like the same film!  I
give house of flying daggers a B+  (the + is for kaneshiro)

Tomorrow, i think i'm going to watch Hotel Rwanda.  I can not
WAIT.  i LOVE historically based films.  For those of you who
has never seen The Power of One, you MUST see it.  It my all time
FAVORITE film....also set in africa.  It is SOOOO good.  You
    will cry.

  • May I ask why President Bush did not accompany Gen. Powell to southeast
asia to witness the ruins caused by the tsunamai?  I understand he
is on vacation right now, but could he possibly cut it a few days short
to visit these countries?  And why send Jeb Bush...does he think
that since they look alike, people will think he is actually president
Bush?  If you're not going to go, at least send someone from your
cabinet...someone who can help you come up with a plan to help...like
    condaleeza rice...someone....anyone....or just go yourself.

  • So...good news from work.  I was told that I was recommended to
work permanently in the IV room, with one condition....that i switch to
weekends 1 and 3 (i'm on 2 and 4 right now).  They said weekends 2
and 4 have an adequate IV staff and they like to keep the IV staff
consistent, so if i stayed on 2 and 4, i'd probably be stuck in a
    non-IV shift.

So i thought about it...for like one second...and i was like
OKAY.  YAYAYAY!!! i get to work my favorite shift FOREVER!
THe managers are pretty friendly and people always joke around with
them, so I also asked (sort of kiddingly) if i would get a raise for
switching weekends.   I got shot down :( Darn.

AND.....there's this one jerk of a pharmacist...not sure if i blogged
about him or not...but he's a jerk.  Yells at people if they make
a mistake, even if they're new and still learning.  AND...if
you're foreign and speak with an accent, he will imitate that accent
while he's yelling at you. Totally rude.  oh...but i found out he
quit/got fired (no one knows the real story) last week, so he's no
    longer around!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!

This is starting to look like a good year!!!

  • over the course of last week, i watched Love Actually, Lost in Translation and most of the first season of Ali G.

I rather like Love Actually...I had no expectations at all before I
watched it...i thought it would be like another Bridget Jones'
diary.  But it was good! and witty! and cleverly witty!  I
didn't realize how many big wigs were in that movie! but all in all, a
    good time!  A-

Hmmm...Lost in Translation.  Let me preface this by saying that i
do not like slow moving plot lines...i have no patience.  If Lost
in Translation were a book, i would have skipped to the last chapter 15
minutes into the movie.  I didn't really like it at all....I don't
know if i was just disgusted by the scarlet-bill murray romance.
I just didn't think it was all that great.  C+

And ahhhh....Ali G.  For those of you who may not have heard of
Ali G...let me just tell you that this guy is the funniest guy
around.  You will be cracking up when you watch this.  he's
basically an American Jewish guy who plays all these different
characters...and goes out and interviews famous people (mostly
political) with his fake accents and outrageous clothes and dumb
questions.  Ali G. is the main character he plays...he's a british
gangsta, complete with west side hand signs.  Then he plays Borat,
a Khazakstanian trying to adapt to America, while looking for
love...and hook ups.  And then there the third character whose
    name i can't spell...but he's basically a German fashion guy and he
interviews people in the fashion/art industry.  It is
    HILARIOUS.  A+

My daddy bought bootleg copies of House of Flying Daggers and Troy...so i will watch them next!

  • Sandra Bullock donated a million dollars to the tsunamai relief
efforts.  God bless Sandra Bullock....I guess this is why she's
known to be one of the nicest people in Hollywood. (she also donated a
million to NYC after sept. 11)

oh and i don't have panoramic feature on my camera, so i had to use a
free trial web service to stitch the photo together.  And in
return for their free services, they put their logo all over my pics :(   Anyone know of a free panoramic service?!!!
*edit* nevermind...i have a panorama program on my computer....and i just never realized it!
