Paging all computer geeks: I’m thinking about getting a laptop….what are some good recommendation? I don’t need a desktop replacement type laptop…just something to use when i’m away from home…I store most of my stuff on my desktop.
Preferably with: wireless capabilities/Pentium M, CD and DVD player…that’s it…i have simples tastes. I just want to be able to watch movies during my 4 hour trips home….to write papers while i’m in the library….to listen to my mp3′s…and to steal someone’s wireless web. I don’t really need top of the line stuff but I’d like the computer to be able to handle at least 2 of the above activities at the same time without crashing/freezing.
I don’t play computer games, so i don’t need all that extra gaming stuff. I don’t need one of those extra large screens (i’d rather not carry an extra 20 pounds on my back). I don’t need extra extra slim if it’s going to add $$$ to the price. I’m an alphagurl, i can manage SOME weight.
oh…and if it could be under 1500…that would be good.
I’ve already looked at online reviews and stuff…but i never trust them…because I never know what sort of idiot is writing the review.
TELL ME….TELL ME.
*edit* under 1000 would be better. Has anyone heard about the Dell 1000. IS it any good?

powerbook G4, or you can get a 14″ ibook for $1099, i’ll give you all the programs you will ever need. go to http://www.apple.com
do you have virtual PC?
I used an Apple all through HS and the beginning of college….i had bad experiences….
get a dell laptop…it’s cheaper, more for your money, lasts a long time..my super-smart professor raves about dell as a company. If you need help, they’re there…ask mogan all about it…and yes, I have an apple, but i recommend a PC because you don’t need all the design stuff and i’m sure they have a DVD+CD reader/burner together by now since Mac came out with one 2 or 3 yrs ago….go to cnet.com. They’re a trusted source or again, just ask Mogan….
hahhaha… y is it that the only ppl i kno with apples are artists/graphic designers…. and Abe??
Go with the PC
which PC?! I’m leaning towards Dell…i’ve had the same one for the past two years…NO problems at all. Only froze twice…both times when Chrissy was on it.
dell dell dell….i’ve only heard good things about it….even my friend in Berlin who is saving up for a laptop is going for a Dell…
