Month: June 2004

  • yesterday at church, i learned this new song.  it's sooooo good!

Blessed by your name- Matt Redman or Tree63 (better version)

    Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
    Blessed be your name

    Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
    Blessed be your name

    Every blessing you pour out,
    I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
    Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
    Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
    Blessed be your glorious name

    Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
    Blessed be your name

    Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Oh, There's pain in the offering
    Blessed be your name

    Every blessing you pour out,
    I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
    Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
    Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
    Blessed be your glorious name

    You give and take away
    You give and take away
My heart will choose to stay
    Well Blessed be your name

Anyhow, i'm starting to review orgo cuz my medicinal chem class
next semester is basically medicinal ORGO...which i HATE HATE
HATE.  I just started reading the first chapter of a review book.
Just the stuff on types of bonds and stuff, and already I'm like
KILL ME NOW.  This is why i could never get myself to read a
chem book.  it's so UGH. People think i'm kidding when i said
    I never studied for orgo.  I wasn't.  I TRIED...but i couldn't
bring myself to read the text.  It's one of those things when
you try to read it and you know you HAVE to cuz you have an
exam the next morning...and you end up reading the same sentence
like a hundred times before you give up and go onto reading that's
more fun...like my BIO texts!  And i never understood those
Fischer projections, or whatever they're called.  The ones where
you draw the bonds as triangles...but each triangle is shaded
differently to depict the different spatial orientations of the bonds.
yeah. I have very poor imaginative perception.  So to this day, i still
can't tell what the molecule is supposed to look like based on those
    drawings. ARGH.

On, on a different note, I listening to this Japanese pop/rock chick
group called Zone.  They're actually pretty good.  THey kinda remind
me of a softer, all girls version of no doubt.  SHIRLEY...pick me
    up a few CD's while you're there!

  • ALL my weddings for the summer are over...as far as i know.  Two weddings in one weekend is not as fun as i would've expected.  I am TIRED.  the weird thing is that both MC's were almost exactly alike.  Both were short asians...and they played the SAME games and had the SAME activities and the SAME personalities.  Kinda weird.

First wedding was lenny's friends...so we got to see all of his crew...which by now makes them my friends cuz i see them so much.  We pretty much spent the whole night busting each other's chops and making fun of the MC.

Second wedding was IAN!!! so i got to see MY crew...and we pretty much spent the whole night busting each other's chops and heckling the MC. I must admit, i was probably the worst one, having to go through the same routine twice in a row...buddhaman was pretty bad too...Ahhhh...it was so good to just sit around and be us! ahahahah

I don't think I've laughed that much in a looong time.  Plus Bible study was a riot....thanks to Jeyi99, the history buff!!!

But congrats to cicely and ian...the first one of us has gone...hahaha who's next? YACH YACH YACH!!!! hahahaha.

  • How to make a Jennifer Wang
    Ingredients:
    3 parts competetiveness
    3 parts ambition
    1 part ego
    Method:
Blend at a low speed for 30 seconds. Top it off with a sprinkle of caring and enjoy!

HELLO!!! if this isn't me, i don't know what is! I especially like the ego part...hahahaha

Tomorrow will be my last day in Jamaica Plain, MA...sigh, i will really miss JP (as the locals call it).  It is now very much like the village just as it was becoming a burgeoning hip area.  It was once a rich area, which then became a poor area, and is now becoming a hip area.  There are these beautiful victorian mansions everywhere...even though, now they are brownstones.  The neighborhood population is a mix of ghetto and artist and some doctors who live in renovated mansions.  I've had the pleasure of having the largest inland body of water in boston right across the street from me.  I've been able to walk to center street (equivalent of downtown JP)...AND into brookline.

Fenway is more college-y...just typical apartment buildings...no interesting architecture :( no beautiful lake...basically preppy, white population.  Sigh...i wouldn't have moved if it weren't for the commute....it's not even that bad...half an hour...but when you have 8AM classes mon-friday...that half hour is a big deal.

  • Lakers got SPANKED yesterday....hahahahahaha SUCKAS!!!

I got a new plant today.  I will call her Dolly...So now i have Polly and Dolly.    Dolly is a yellow Dahlia (one of my FAVORITE flowers)...one of the blooms is kinda dying cuz it was kept out in the hot hot sun with no water.  I will take pics after Dolly is feeling better.

Darn...my ear holes have partially closed.  I've worn hoop earring for the past few years and the part that goes in my ear is much thinner than a regular post.  So i went to try on the earrings I'm wearing this sunday...and they have regular thickness hooks (even harder to get in than straight posts cuz they curve), i couldn't get them through.  After much pulling and pushing, they finally went in.  I have to wear them ALL the time now to get them to go in on sunday.  Freakin earrings....i had so much trouble with them healing.  It was supposed to take two weeks...it took me almost a year...it didn't get infected, but it didn't stop pus-ing for a long time.  i can NOT have my holes close and have to pierce them again.

  • ok...for those of you who can't see the pictures....try this:

    Pictures of Polly the Plant:

  • I'm moving in FIVE days!! YAYAYAYAY!!! no more BIATCH to live with.  I will have my OWN place...with NO WEIRDO's who wake up at 5AM even tho she doesn't leave for work until 8AM.  I can cook ANYTHING i want...ANYTIME i want.  I can invite friends over without having to worry about the witch coming out of her cave.  AND the bathtub has jets built in.....HOT TUB!!! (sorta...it's a regular sized tub).

My new location will be in an area of Boston called Fenway....it's literally like three blocks from the stadium.  Supposedly when the crowd roars, I can hear it from the apartment.  But it's close to school...i can walk there in 5-10 minutes, which is GREAT considering i have 8AM classes 5 days a week next semester.  It's an ok sized studio...not TEENY TINY...but not huge.  the eat in kitchen is separate from the bedroom, which is good...it's sorta like a one bedroom without the living room.  Anyhow FIVE MORE DAYS......

oh a side note, chrissy got me this for my bday...it plays mp3's.  At first i was like...eh...philips...but i went to the store to listen to all the mini stereo systems...and the sound on this blew the others away....sony and panasonic SUCKED...i have a new respect for philips....plus it matches my furniture. hhahahaha

  • THANK YOU everyone for the calls and emails and e-cards.  Everyone rememebered!! even my parents...who called at 8:30AM on my day off....thanks mom and dad.

SO on my quarter century bday, I got a tummy full of sushi from my favorite sushi place up here.  The sushi chef remembered me and threw in a tempura maki on the house...and he made the slices of fish HUMONGOUS on my chirashi.  The yellowtail and tako (my favorites) were about an inch thick each....yummy yummy in my tummy.  And then we headed over to JP Licks for some homemade ice cream...And then after all that, I felt like throwing up cuz my stomach was soooo full....

AND...i now have my very first house plant courtesy of my very good friend...i LOVE plants...so much better than flowers, which die within a week.  It's an african violet with sparkly, pink petals....I named her POLLY....Polly the Plant.

All in all, a great birthday.  I think i'll start lying about my age now...hahahaha..i'll tell people I'm 20...so by the time i'm 30, i'll be 25!!!

  • Happy Birfday to me....happy birfday to meeee....happy birfday dear Miss Mamacita Jenniqua Wanger Banger....happy birfday to meeeeee.

    Dang, I'm old.

So, i got my hair cut...yes, again. hahahaha...these short cuts need a lot of maintainance!! but i took a risk and went to a white people place up here in boston.  it was a tad more expensive than c-town...but i went with a junior stylist...and he was actually quite good!!! he reshaped my cut so i can just let it grow out and eventually it'll just be a layered bob.

Most importantly, he got rid of that little extra layer of hair on the bottom that all chinese people seem to LOVE.  why do they do that?! like it's a perfectly fine cut...and then there'll be a thin layer, and inch long, sticking out on the bottom...i hate that.  yeah, white people don't do that.  I'd go back, but he's becoming a senior stylist...and it'll cost 50....dayam...

But he told me i had awesome hair! hahaha i LOVE DARIO!!!

*does anyone know/have this Christian song called Righter Day (i THINK that's what it's called...that's what it sounded like)...it's kinda gospel-ly.  i heard it at church, but can't find it anywhere....is that the right title? and who sings it?

  • SO, yesterday at church, there was a visiting YG from texas who came to perform.  The group was HUGE....i'd say about 100.  But they did this kinda gospel-ly song...so some people sang and play instruments...and the rest danced...like all over...in the aisles...on the stage.  They didn't really do hand motions or any big dance sequence....a lot of it was just side stepping and just really simple moves...but it was totally awesome.  I don't know if it was the sheer number or what...but they were good!  And they ended their performance with some stepping and Stomp-ish moves! I was like *ding* ideas for our YG!!!

Time for more movie reviews....this weekend: Kikujiro and Whale Rider

KIKUJIRO:  it's SOOOOOOOOOOOO funny...if you like deadpan humor.  It's about a little boy who lives with his grandma and goes off to find his mom who lives far away.  A family friend made her husband go with him so he won't be alone.  And on the way there, all these things happen and they meet all these odd characters.  It doesn't sound like much, but it is hilarious...i think i laughed the whole way through.

WHALE RIDER:  It was good.  But Keisha Castle-Hughes was even better! that girl was sooooo good.  it's astonishing that she's never acted before!  The movie is NOTHING like free willy (hee hee). sigh...it was good.

    Both movies are must see's.

On another note...two days and counting...
